Camping and Boating Season Wraps Up at RRCA’s Charlottenburgh Park and Gray’s Creek

November 8, 2023

Campers and boaters from near and far stepped into nature again this year thanks to the Raisin Region Conservation Authority’s (RRCA) campground at Charlottenburgh Park and the marina at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area. The campground and marina both recently closed for the season.

“This year marks our 44th boating season, and we’re pleased to see our marina and boat launch being used by so many community members throughout the spring, summer, and fall,” says RRCA Administrative Assistant, Josianne Sabourin.

The marina at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area provides boaters and anglers with immediate access to the St. Lawrence River. Located strategically at the mouth of Gray’s Creek, just east of Cornwall, the marina provides 128 open slips that can be rented during the boating season. The marina also includes a large parking area, a launching ramp, and a service building that sells gas, oil, and other marine sundries. The marina welcomes both day and seasonal boaters.

Charlottenburgh Park has continued to be a popular destination for campers as well, welcoming 24,000 visitors this year. One of the RRCA’s three Conservation Areas, Charlottenburgh Park is situated along the north bank of the St. Lawrence River near Summertown, just a few kilometres east of Cornwall. The park offers a beach, picnic area, boat launch, camping sites, nature trails, and more. Surrounded by trees and wildlife, both serviced and un-serviced lots offer campers an opportunity to relax and connect with nature.

This summer, the RRCA made various improvements at the park, including a new roadside sign, and upgraded amperages and new water lines at several campground lots.

While the Park’s beach and campground are closed for the season, visitors can still enjoy its six-kilometre nature trail system open year-round at no cost. “We look forward to welcoming campers and boaters back when the park and marina open next spring,” says Sabourin.
