Watershed Conditions: Water Safety Statement

January 10, 2020

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) is issuing a Water Safety Statement for the RRCA jurisdiction.

Heavy precipitation (50 mm or more) is forecasted for the RRCA jurisdiction starting Saturday. The precipitation combined with warmer temperatures and associated snowmelt Friday and Saturday may result in higher than normal water levels and flows for much of the region.  Higher than normal water levels could result in flooding in low-lying areas.

Caution should be exercised near waterbodies. Parents should inform their children of the risks and provide appropriate supervision.

This statement is in effect until Tuesday, January 14, 2020.  The RRCA will continue to monitor water levels and weather forecasts as part of the Flood Forecasting and Warning program and will provide updates if conditions change.
