Take Action : Become a Riverkeeper!

Save The River and the Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) have teamed up to host a Riverkeeper Volunteer Training and Interpretative Paddle at the Gray’s Creek Conservation Area in Cornwall, Ontario on Wednesday, July 17 from 10 am to 1 pm for people that are interested in joining the volunteer Monitoring Program.

Participants will learn to monitor and report changes in River health using indicators such as pollution, invasive species, wildlife die-offs, and more. Volunteers will participate in a one-hour Riverkeeper learning session followed by a two-hour kayaking excursion that includes a one-hour American Canoe Association (ACA) “Quickstart Your Kayak” training that will teach the basics of paddling a kayak and simple rescue techniques. 

Space is limited to 15 participants who need to bring their own kayak, life jacket, and whistle. Interested participants are required to pre-register by contacting the RRCA at (613) 938-3611 or info@rrca.on.ca.
